Araceli Donovan  |  Businesswoman. Founder and CEO of Pithaya Pacifica, a firm that offers high-end boat tours.

Brendan Donovan  |  Araceli's father. Businessman who owned a trading company in Hong Kong.  An active supporter of the IRA.  Deceased.

Chad  |  U.S. marine officer. Member of one of the elite Force Reconnaissance units.

Chiang Kwok  |  Head of a Macau-based triad called Bau Chuan. The triad owns the Macau Zaju, a casino that Araceli once liked to frequent.

Francesca Altamirano  |  Historian employed by Santa Clara University in California.  Araceli's mother.  

Irina Varga  |  Creator and CEO of a Philadelphia charity funded by her husband, Konstantin Varga.

Lalbahadur Thapa  |  One-time Gurkha. Once employed by Brendan Donovan and actively engaged in Araceli's education.  Now crippled and living in a long-term care facility in Hong Kong. Araceli refers to him as "Lal."

Lorcan Burke  |  Araceli's "Benefactor." A shadowy figure who is covering the interest on the gambling debt Araceli incurred gambling in the Macau Zaju casino.  When he first meets her, Lorcan Burke is the name he uses.

Roddy Donovan  |  Araceli's uncle. Now working for her company, Pithaya Pacifica.  Based in Manila.

Sebastian Thorne  |  Head of Harcourt Bank, which has its headquarters in Hong Kong. 

Valeriya Narskaya  |  Executive Director of Civitas Terrena, a foundation funded by Konstantin Varga.  A one-time professional tennis player, she was employed by Abrau Capital at the time Malory was working there.

Yana Varga  |  Senior manager at Civitas Terrena, and the driving force that led to its creation.  She is now employed there, and she reports to Valeriya Narskaya.  Konstantin Varga's daughter.
